Gaining a few pounds now and then is normal, and you may be able to lose those additional few pounds without too much trouble. Let me tell you about my weight struggles and then I’ll tell you about flipping the weight loss switch.
When I was in my mid thirties, I found the pounds just started to stick to me like peanut butter to fingers. I really wasn’t eating any more than I used to, but suddenly I found my pants not fitting and slowly I bought bigger size after biggrt size. I gained 70 pounds!
I still don’t know what happened to cause the weight gain. However, losing it is still a battle of my mind versus my mouth, and one that is very real struggle for me. Allow me to explain about the easy weight loss diets and staying fit for life.
Fast Weight Loss Diet Plan
Sounds too good to be true, right? Don’t we all want to use the latest and greatest fad diets that work, and in a few days lose those extra pounds? Sounds fantastic.
New fad diets seem to come out every day. They all make inflated claims, and one of the most common is that their particular weight loss formula is a fast weight loss diet plan.
So the formula is simple.
All you need to do is follow some contrived plan of eating the right food at the right time, and the more irrational, the better! That’s an easy weight loss diet. Every fad diet is nothing more than a clever variation designed to suck people in by tricking them into thinking it offers something new.
You may actually be able to lose weight by following these diets, but it will be what we know as water weight and not pounds. The truth is, every diet we newly start eliminates water weight first. That’s the illusion fad diets use to base their success on. Then you gain it back, and feel like a complete failure.
How could you let this happen?
The Mayo clinic explains that when you start dieting and taking in fewer calories, your body uses up the glycogen for energy. Glycogen holds on to water, so when it is used up water is also released, and viola, you have fad diet weight loss very quickly!
How to Lose Pounds of Fat
So here’s the extra special magical way to lose those pounds of fat. Wait for it………. You have to burn more calories than you take in. I know you didn’t really want to hear that answer. You thought there might be an easier way to do it. Unfortunately there really is only one way to lose those extra pounds.
So the key to lose weight is to have your body use more calories than you’re eating. Guess what? Another magic trick to help lose pounds of fat is….. Wait for it again……….exercise! I know you really didn’t want to hear that answer either!
The Fewer Calorie More Exercise Diet – How Dare I
Come on guys, don’t you think if I had an easier way to do it I’d tell you? You may be able to lose some weight by only watching what you eat, and you may be able to lose some through exercise alone. When you combine them the switch is flipped.
A simple rule to keep in mind is that 3,500 calories equals 1 pound. If you can get rid of an extra 500 calories per day, you will lose 1 pound per week. That may not sound like a lot, but it adds up to 52 pounds in a year’s time. This is known as the safe and practical way to lose the fat, and it’s longer lasting.
However, only losing 1 pound a week does not seem to be motivational. Pay attention now. I’m going to tell you how to stay motivated and lose weight. If you take in 500 fewer calories per day through proper eating, and burn 500 more calories each day through exercise, then you can lose 2 pounds per week, or just over 100 pounds within a year. Sounding better?
So the best weight loss diets are those that help you eat healthy, reduce your caloric intake by 500 per day, and completing enough exercise to burn off another 500 calories. Which particular diets or exercise programs you follow isn’t all that important, but remember to check with your doctor before starting any program of exercise.
Once you are able to sustain the weight loss plan and exercise for a few weeks, you will be amazed at just how quickly the pounds start to melt off.
Protein foods for weight loss – True Magic
Now not everything you do on your diet will be hard. Eating more protein is one of the easiest and simplest ways to help you lose weight. Protein can reduce hunger and boost metabolism, but you still have to count the calories! (You didn’t think I forget about that did you?)
By replacing carbohydrates and fat with protein, you will reduce the hunger hormone and boost the satiety hormones. Say it isn’t so? This is probably the closest we’ll get to a magic trick to dieting.
Here are some suggested high protein foods to eat while dieting: whole eggs, leafy greens, vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, salmon and tuna, lean beef and chicken and bean and legumes. There’s a large variety of protein foods to choose from, and depending on your likes you may be able to eat something different every day and avoid boredom.
Stay Fit for Life
Yes, I admit it, I’m still trying to get the rest of that 70 pounds off. I have had my ups and downs (literally), but I have finally found a routine that works for me. And yes it is counting calories and exercise.
Don’t beat yourself up if you fall off of the wagon. Accept that you cheated, accept that you had too many calories, forgive yourself and MOVE on. Don’t let the devil on your shoulder (your ego) tell you it’s useless since you cheated.
If you have a bad day or a set back just start again with the calorie counting and exercise. It’s okay. You got this!
The only true magic of weight loss it to keep going even when you don’t want to. Keep track of those calories, eat more protein and exercise moderately. As soon as your body starts to burn those pounds it will snowball and before you realize it you will be at your target weight.
