Do you look like me?
Of course not. Someone out there may look similar to me, but we are not identical in looks. Yes we have the same basic body parts, but deeper than surface level our genes and social upbringings are extremely different and influential in our lives. Today’s post is about the Paleo Diet aka Caveman Diet. But first let’s talk a little about how different we really are.
So if we know we’re not identical why than do we think the same weight loss plan will work wonders for us in the same way it has for others?
This has been a part of my frustration and I’m sure yours too when trying to lose weight. You read about how wonderful a plan worked for someone and think it may work the same for you. Or at least hope it will. So you try it, it’s a bust, and there you go again back into that circle of feeling like a hopeless failure. This always made me eat more!
You. Did. Nothing. Wrong. Continue reading “Caveman Diet – You Can Successfully Lose Weight!”
Soda, is also known as pop or soda pop. Some of us refer to all pop as coke. I grew up calling it pop. I have never called it soda. Funny, when I lived in Maryland my family and I were eating out. I asked our server for another pop and he looked at me like I swore at him! It took me a second to realize he had no idea what pop was, and I quickly asked for another coke and he got it.
Whatever you call it, soda pop is extremely popular drink and it’s list of ingredients is um not so popular. Well actually like everything in our society, the advantage or disadvantage of something depends on who is telling the story, or in this case article. I know that’s a very odd quote to start a post about organic skin care products especially for babies. Below I explain what I believe is the motivation for some lawsuits that we see today like the Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder lawsuit.
These facts have helped mold and shape what I think about big business and my decision to buy, grow or make my own organic items. Stay with me though to the end to understand this interconnection with corporations and my decision for my family’s health.
While you read through the end of this post ask yourself, “Did, or am I, using Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder on my baby or myself?” This is a MUST read! Continue reading “Baby Powder – A Link to Ovarian Cancer”
The mind body connection means that our thoughts, feelings and beliefs can affect how our bodies function. And the opposite too. Our bodies can affect our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitude.

If you don’t already know what it is, HIIT training workouts are high intensity interval training that combines short periods of high intensity exercise with rest periods in between.
HIIT training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. “A high-intensity workout increases the body’s need for oxygen during the effort and creates an oxygen shortage, causing your body to ask for more oxygen during recovery,” says Eric Salvador, NASM, NSCA, head instructor at The Fhitting Room in New York City. “This afterburn effect is referred to as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) and is the reason why intense exercise will help burn more fat and calories than regular aerobic and steady-state workouts.” Continue reading “How to Lose Weight in Half the Time – Tried and True!”
Ahhh skin as soft as a newborn baby’s. Don’t we wish!
Most of the time we really don’t give much thought to the purpose of our skin and its functions. Generally women, rather than men, think of skin in terms of daily skin care routines for the face based on their knowledge of the type of skin they have. One thing is for sure, as we age, the skin loses that soft, suppleness that we were born with – and we do lots of things to try to get it back!
I think we take for granted everything our skin does for us. It is actually the largest organ of the body, and is one seventh of our body weight. Some functions of the skin includes protection, excretion, secretion, regulation, sensation and absorption. I’ll briefly touch on all of these functions, but I’ll expand on absorption and secretion. Stay with me to the end of the post to discover some fascinating, accidental harm we’ve done to ourselves.

Gaining a few pounds now and then is normal, and you may be able to lose those additional few pounds without too much trouble. Let me tell you about my weight struggles and then I’ll tell you about flipping the weight loss switch.
When I was in my mid thirties, I found the pounds just started to stick to me like peanut butter to fingers. I really wasn’t eating any more than I used to, but suddenly I found my pants not fitting and slowly I bought bigger size after biggrt size. I gained 70 pounds!
I still don’t know what happened to cause the weight gain. However, losing it is still a battle of my mind versus my mouth, and one that is very real struggle for me. I understand what is probably part of the problem. See my post titled, High Fructose Corn Syrup – Your Brain’s Supplier for a little insight into a very common ingredient that may be to blame.
Allow me to explain about the easy weight loss diets and staying fit for life. Continue reading “Easy Weight Loss Diets – Flip the Switch”

This post is a piece about jogging fitness. But first I want to tell you a brief inspirational story about a comeback from a pro football player who was told he would never play football again.

The 1970s brought us things like the skateboard, disco dancing and the beginning of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in just about every type of food production. By the 1980s soda drinks such as the highly recognized Coke products were using HFCS. I refer to HFCS as your brain’s supplier. Stay with me until the end of this post to explain. The ultimate protein powder you use will be based on your individual needs. I have recently added a protein powder to my food plan, and based on the positive behaviors I’ve seen in myself I’m not sure what the heck took me so long to incorporate this into my diet! I explain my discovery below.
I have been jogging for about 5 years now. I don’t jog that much in a week, only about 6-9 miles (a week not a day!), but that is enough for me to get my cardio going. By the end of the week I was so tired I didn’t even want to walk up one flight of stairs because my legs didn’t want to cooperate! I was exhausted, literally. Then one day I was having a casual conversation with someone at work about exercise, and he told me a secret about my exhausted muscles.
He said I needed protein to help the muscles recover from the exercise.
Wait, what? How could I have not already thought of something so simple and logical?
And why didn’t my Doctor ever tell me this when I explained how tired I was after a week of jogging only a few miles? Continue reading “Ultimate Protein Powder – Whey, and Creatine and Organic Oh My!”
